Nobonnayan

NABONNYAN, a Social Welfare Initiative and a noble dream of the Association of Officers of UCO Bank-West Bengal was formed on 28th July 2002 and started its maiden journey with Blood Donation Camp at Rampurhat which attracted overwhelming response from the local population. Over 1500 members of our unit have be subscribing RS:10/-per month towards their commitment and mental attachment towards the underprivileged. To have a meaningful existence this social wing indulged in enormous benevolent works by adopting Mangaldihi village under Bolpur sub-division and launching series of social upliftment programmes like sinking number of tube wells in water scarce zone, and activities in the sphere of health, hygiene, education and vocational training, which has rekindled the hopes & aspirations of rural youths & marginal farmers. On 5th September 2005, a Computer Training Centre was inaugurated in the village to impart computer awareness amongst the growing children of the area.

In a continued social endeavour, NABONNYAN has been associated with Behala Bikashan, a school for mentally challenged children located at Behala, Kolkata. The school imparts special education, vocational training and counseling programmes to such otherwise able young boys & girls. Twenty numbers of students are fully sponsored for the cost of their fees and ancillary expenses. Moreover administrative costs including monthly rental of the school premises is borne by this social arm of our Association. Procedures are in the pipe line at the behest of the Executive committee of the School to buy a piece of land for construction of own building. That would entail huge requirement of funds, more so that modern equipments and amenities for imparting training relating to special education for children with autistic and learning disabilities, would involve huge expenditure.
